Back from holidays with cleaner new arrivals

After a few days off, MGD is back in motion with a cleaner new-arrivals Journal: variants of the same product are now grouped so there is less noise and more useful gear discovery.

After a few days off, MGD is back in motion. The Radar remains the core of the site, but it was time to calmly review which information is genuinely useful and which parts only make everything feel longer than necessary.

The first visible improvement is in the store new-arrivals articles. When a retailer adds the same product in several colours or finishes, it does not make much sense to show it as five separate news items. Sometimes we do want to see every option, but not five nearly identical cards in a row.

From now on, the Journal tries to group those obvious variants. If several Fender, Squier, Harley Benton or any other clearly repeated model arrive in different colours or finishes, MGD presents them as one entry with multiple images, a price from and separate links for each variant.

The important part stays intact: you can still open the exact colour or version you want, each link keeps its original destination and, where affiliate links are available, they remain in place without changing price or selection criteria. Visually, however, the article becomes cleaner and easier to understand.

The grouping is intentionally conservative. We would rather group too little than merge products that are not truly equivalent. If a model shares name, brand, retailer and category and only the finish changes, it can be grouped; if there is doubt, it stays independent.

We also tightened the data quality of the new-arrivals Journal: no more category pages pretending to be products, no impossible prices taken from side text and no products without a clear real price. If a new arrival cannot be shown with useful context, it is better left out.

The goal is for this section to help discover new gear with some judgement, not to force endless scrolling through noise. MGD is back from holidays with the same GAS, but with each block trying to make more sense than before.
